The heads of the city's public works departments presented Dumas City Manager Arbie Taylor with a plaque of appreciation at the December 17, 2019 Dumas City Commission regular meeting.  The plaque stated, "For all you do."  Left to right:  Jose Escamilla, Street Supervisor;  Reece Spencer, Water/Wastwater Supervisor; Arbie Taylor; Isidro Renteria, Landfill Supervisor; Oscar Garcia, Parks Supervisor; Andy Diehlmann, City Inspector; Mike Madrid, Communications; and Jose Fuentes, Gas Supervisor.

Dumas City Manager Arbie Taylor gave notice to the Dumas City Commissioners in their regular meeting Tuesday that he intended to retire from city service effective July 30.  “It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Dumas and work with the great people in all the city departments,” he wrote in the letter he presented to the commissioners.  His last actual work day will be July 29.

Dumas Mayor Bob Brinkmann and the commissioners expressed surprise at the move and said they wished him well.  Taylor said only that it was the “right time” as an explanation for his unexpected action; he did not elaborate on any future plans.
