The Santa Fe City Council on Thursday appointed Finance Director Rudy Zepeda as the acting city manager while the council continues to search for someone to fill the role.

Former Police Chief Philip Meadows had been acting as city manager since November.

Meadows announced last year his plans for retirement and was last month replaced by Walter Braun, former chief of the Santa Fe Independent School District Police Department.

The city has been without a permanent city manager since November, when former City Manager Glen Adams abruptly departed from the city.

The city didn’t immediately respond to requests for information about Zepeda’s salary Friday. Santa Fe City Hall closes at noon Friday.
