City of Laredo to discuss appointing new city attorney

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - City Council will meet on Monday afternoon to discuss appointing a new city attorney.

This comes after the recent resignation of Sylvia Borunda-Firth after only seven weeks on the job.

Ms. Borunda-Firth submitted her resignation last week to interim city manager Keith Selman.

No specific reason was given only that she is doing so in order to clear the way for the appointment of a permanent city attorney approved by a majority of council members.

She goes on to say that she remains available to the city as outside counsel if needed and will be available to complete projects she was directly working on.

Borunda-Firth is currently the president of the Texas Bar Association and was appointed by City Council on February 7.
