El Paso welcomes first code enforcement director
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Officials with the City of El Paso announced a person as the city's first code enforcement director.
Arthur S. Alvarado was appointed to the position and will begin his new role this week.
Alvarado, who has more than 29 years of professional experience in municipal government, most recently worked as the Code and Neighborhood Services Division Manager and Interim Building Official in Moreno Valley in California.
He was responsible for all code enforcement activities, parking enforcement, issuance of building permits, plan-check review and inspection services.
The appointment of Mr. Alvarado affirms our commitment to the citizens of El Paso to achieve our vision for a safe and secure city through beautiful neighborhoods,” said City Manager Tommy Gonzalez. “We have great confidence that Mr. Alvarado will help us meet this vision and help strengthen our code enforcement strategies to reduce nuisances and enhance the visual appearance of our neighborhoods.
As the Code and Neighborhood Services Division Manager, Alvarado managed the daily operations of all code compliance cases while also managing the daily operations of various other programs including foreclosure registration and monitored towing and citation processing contracts.
Alvarado received his bachelor’s degree from Brandman University (Chapman University System) in Business Administration with a focus on Organizational Leadership. He also obtained an associate degree in Construction Technology from Riverside City College.
Alvarado holds a Certified Building Official, Building Inspector (1997 Uniform Building Code) and Residential Mechanical Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC).
