Search continues for city manager

With longtime City Manager Brett Shannon’s last day less than two months away, the Decatur City Council is still working to find his successor.

A closed session is scheduled for Monday’s city council meeting to continue discussing candidates.

Mayor Mike McQuiston said the city is still taking applications and interviewing candidates of interest.

“We are still in the process,” McQuiston said.

Shannon is set to retire June 30. He’s been the city manager since 1990.

The council gave staff the authority in March to contact a consulting firm on possibly bringing in an interim.
