Bowie City Manager Bert Cunningham will continue in his position as the city council reviewed his employment agreement in a 12-minute executive session Monday night. The agreement had been placed on the agenda at the request of the CM after Mayor Gaylynn Burris had mentioned to him it had expired. However, further review showed there was no time element and the manager serves at the discretion of the council or he voluntarily resigns or retires.
Cunningham said there was no need to take action with no time element, but the council made one change. Under the paragraph on compensation the figure for the base salary of $90,000, which was the original amount, was removed. It now states he will be paid an annual base salary.
Salaries for all city employees are set with council approval of the budget.
