Arlington’s Code Compliance Department has received the 2022 International Code Council Community Service Award for efforts promoting public health, safety and welfare.

Code Compliance director Brian Daugherty accepted the award Sept. 13 at an ICC conference in Louisville.

Code Compliance’s latest initiative to increase value for Arlington residents is the free Tool Sharing Program. Through July 31, almost 1,000 tools had been signed out and more than 200 potential code violations were corrected, according to the department.

The department’s Neighborhood Enhancement Team focuses on building partnerships. Since December 2019, Code Compliance has partnered with 15 neighborhoods for cleanup events that have yielded 119.7 tons of trash removal, the department said.
