Beaumont reveals likely city manager choice

The city of Beaumont appears poised to appoint its next city manager some nine months after its longest-serving manager announced his intent to retire.

The City Council is set to vote on Tuesday on a resolution appointing Kenneth Williams to the position, effective Sept. 6, according to the meeting agenda.

Williams would come to Beaumont from Buda, Texas after retiring from that position in March.

Williams has spent nearly two decades in city management and spent nine years as Emergency Management Coordinator in Lufkin, working through several hurricanes during his tenure.

He has a B.A. in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Public Administration from Villanova University.

The Beaumont City Council has been meeting in executive session for several weeks to discuss the city's next manager.
