The city of Beaumont announced the hiring of two new assistant city managers.
Chris Boone and June Ellis were named Beaumont's assistant city managers on Tuesday, according to a city news release.
Boone will start as the assistant city manager of development services on Monday, Nov. 14. Ellis will begin his role of assistant city manager of administration on Jan. 3.
"Both men bring a wealth of experience from various segments of the municipality," Beaumont City Manager Kenneth Williams said in the release. "Their skill sets complement each other, and collectively, we’re excited to serve the citizens in an even greater capacity.”
Boone has served as the interim city manager and director of the planning and community development for the city of Beaumont.
"(Boone) came to the City of Beaumont in 2006 after serving as the public works director for the city of West Orange for four years and as the deputy director of land use administration for the city of Mobile, Alabama for six years," the release said. "Chris has a master’s degree in Urban Planning from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Alabama."
Ellis is currently the City Administrator of Haskell, Texas.
"(Ellis) has experience in Buda, Pearland, Sugar Land, Missouri City and served for 10 years in the city of Detroit, Michigan," the release said. "He is certificated in Economic Development and Finance."
