San Antonio reacts to Texas' 5.3 earthquake, downtown tremors


The National Weather Service in El Paso tweeted that the earthquake rattled West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

Chief Meteorologist at NewsWest 9 reported that it was the third strongest earthquake ever to strike Texas and the strongest since 1995. The National Weather Service in El Paso also tweeted the earthquake rattled West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

On Twitter, many locals in the downtown area said they felt shaken up by the earthquake from the west. Twitter user @Caityxox wrote, "Anyone else in San Antonio just feel the earthquake. Texas is wild rn cold and earthquake."

"Just felt my building shake," Eloy Tijerina tweeted. "Earthquake in San Antonio??? Anyone else feel that?"

"Just felt the earthquake that ocurred in Pecos, TX.... from San Antonio, TX," Jake Haines commented.

N. Monike tweeted about it as well, writing "thought I was shaking and then I saw my TV start shaking." On Twitter, @YoSoyNoWay also wrote, "I worked in a high rise near downtown San Antonio and we felt a little of that earthquake that happened out in west Texas a while ago."

MySA has reached out to USGS to get more information about the earthquake and the possibility of locals feeling it in Texas.
