El Paso city council makes move to fight antisemitism

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Cities across the country adopted resolutions in the fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate.
El Paso city council joined these efforts on Tuesday.
City council passes a resolution to fight antisemitism and all forms of hate to protect the safety of their Jewish and all communities.
El Paso will work with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance to combat hate attacks that are on the rise again.
The Anti-Defamation League reported a 34 percent increase incidents across the country have increased.
In 2021. there were 2,717 related incidents were reported compared 2,026 in 2020.
Texas is now one of the top five states with the highest antisemitism incidence rates, according to the league.
"We are a community that respects the first amendment, freedom of religion and speech, and celebrates our diversity and the multitude of communities and cultures that make El Paso home,” city representative, Peter Svarzbein, said.
