T-Mobile recently announced Palmview, Texas, as one of 25 town recipients of this quarter’s Hometown Grant, which the city will use the $50,000 grant to help fund a new community library and youth club to enhance access to technology and internet services for the community and provide academic opportunities for area youth. To-date, T-Mobile has given more than $5.5 million in funds through Hometown Grants to kickstart 125 community development projects across 37 states, now including Palmview.
City of Palmview Mayor Ricardo Villarreal commented: “The City of Palmview is proud to have been chosen as a recipient of the T-Mobile Hometown Grant and we are proud to bring new services to our residents and community. This grant will allow us to create the first-ever community library in our city, enhance access to technology and internet services for our residents, and provide our youth with academic resources and technology opportunities by establishing the first youth club catered to meet their needs. Thank you, T-Mobile, for partnering with the City of Palmview, we look forward to the transformational opportunities this grant will provide for our community!”
T-Mobile and the City of Palmview will now host a celebration event and present the Hometown Grant check to the City on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10:00am at 603 Palmview Commercial Drive – the site of the new community center.
