Waxahachie City Manager Michael Scott received another year to his employment contract Monday following a unanimous vote by the City Council.
The council conducts a performance review of the city manager annually. Scott works under a five-year contract, and the council has granted an additional year to the contract every year.
“We have an incredible staff and have support from the citizens who appreciate the direction this city is going,” Scott said. “I love my job and what we’re doing, and I’m happy the council agrees with the direction we’re headed.”
The contract now expires Oct. 2, 2027, and the expiration date can be extended for 12 months each year.
Scott joined the city of Waxahachie in 2002 as the downtown director before becoming the director of planning.
He was promoted to assistant city manager in January of 2007 and became the city manager in October of 2017.
