Rowlett city officials announced Monday that ground has been broken on the installation of the first sirens of the new state-of-the-art warning system.
The first two sirens of the project are located at Pecan Grove and Springfield Parks.
Funding to replace Rowlett’s Outdoor Warning Siren System was approved by Rowlett voters under the 2021 CIP Bond Election.
Rowlett Mayor Blake Margois joined in the installation, saying, “We appreciate the community for voting to approve the Outdoor Warning Siren project in 2021,” Margolis said. “These new sirens will increase coverage throughout the city and some will even be equipped with weather stations and PTZ cameras for monitoring in the Emergency Operations Center during severe weather events.’
