Other than Villa Vista Park, Park View is the only other parkland on the east side of 281 for the community.

Marble Falls City Council members approved a proposal on Oct. 18 for the final planning and design services of the planned development of Park View Park.

Council members reviewed, debated and settled on a proposal from Luck Design Team for final planning and design services for the improvements in an amount not to exceed $95,750, according to city officials.

Council members approved the design with the addition of expand- ing the parking area to 10 parking spaces and making the interior trail from the parking lot to the restrooms concrete, according to city documents.

Park View Park is an 11.9-acre undeveloped parcel of parkland located at the corner of Park View and Park Ridge Road. The track of land is the City’s largest undeveloped park and is situated in the northeast section of the community. Other than Villa Vista Park, Park View is the only other parkland on the east side of 281 for the community. A conceptual design was created as part of the 2017 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan Update; and was listed in the 5-year City’s Capital Improvement Plan for construction.

In early 2021, the parks advisory commission, city council, and staff engaged in dialogue through open meetings (one joint workshop with the commission and council and several commission meetings) to discuss if the findings from 2016 design charrette were still applicable to the needs of the community. It was concluded that a revisit needed to occur, prior to proceeding with design of the park, as well as additional engineering was needed in order to bring the project to “shovel ready”. Therefore, at the April 19, 2022 City Council meeting, council approved a design and engineering contract for Luck Design to create an updated Master Plan for Park View Park. The initial contract for services included:

• Topographical and boundary survey

• Community engagement through public meetings

• Creation and distribution of citizen surveys

• Due diligence and conceptual design development

• Schematic Plan Development (30%) Public Input was received through the following:

• Public Meeting – Monday, May 12 – Council Chambers

• Joint Workshop with Parks and Recs – Monday, June 13 – Council Chambers

• Parks and Recreation Meeting – Monday,August 22 – Council Chambers Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission, staff, and the consultant worked together integrating the feedback gained through public meetings and the survey to develop the proposed conceptual design for Park View Park. The design was presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission on August 22 and approved 4-1.
