rt Worth - A Fort Worth police officer has fired after an administrative investigation found he consumed alcohol on duty, the department said.

Fort Worth police Lt. Richard Perez was terminated Thursday, according to the department. He had been on the force for 15 years and was assigned to the support services division.

A Fort Worth Police Department employee notified the internal affairs unit on May 19, 2022, that Perez consumed alcohol while he was on duty, police said.

Investigators with the internal affairs unit found alcoholic beverages in Perez’s work space and discovered Perez drove a city vehicle after consuming alcohol.

Perez was placed on restricted duty and stripped of all police powers during the investigation.

After a review of the administrative investigation, Chief Neil Noakes determined that Perez violated multiple Fort Worth Police Department policies and terminated his employment with the department.

Perez did not wear a police uniform and did not participate in police investigations or respond to calls for service, according to a Fort Worth police news release.

“The Fort Worth Police Department will continue to hold employees accountable who do not meet the standards expected of a Fort Worth Police Officer and in doing so, will continue to be transparent and open with our community,” the release read.

On Wednesday, Fort Worth police fired Officer Victor Rucker, 50, of Fort Worth, after his chain of command determined that Rucker violated multiple police policies, police said.

Rucker was arrested and charged with assault bodily injury/family on June 17, according to court records. His next court date is Nov. 11.
