An incoming storm may bring snow to Texas next week, though Houston will likely only see thunderstorms.

A winter storm may bring snow to the Lone Star State early next week. An incoming system will "bring both rain and wintry precipitation" to Texas on Tuesday, according to Space City Weather's Matt Lanza's Friday forecast.
The storm is not expected to bring any snow on the Bayou City, but could drop a hazardous amount of wintry mix including snow on other parts of the state, including North Texas and the Panhandle into West Texas.
"If you are planning any travel to North Texas, Oklahoma, or the Panhandles there is a pretty decent chance that snow or ice could be an issue. This is primarily true for Lubbock and Amarillo into Wichita Falls and Oklahoma," Lanza predicted in Friday's forecast.
Lanza also warned that Dallas-Fort Worth and Abilene-area residents should expect some amount of wintry precipitation and be prepared for it to complicate any travel plans on Tuesday.
"We have a long way to go here, so specific details are impossible to flesh out, but this could be an impactful storm for parts of the state," Lanza added.
Tuesday's storm should still hit Houston, even if it doesn't bring snow. Space City Weather predicted that "depending on the exact strength and track of this system, we could be in for some strong or severe thunderstorms Tuesday in the Houston area."
Houstonians can savor a stretch of relatively mild winter weather in the days leading up to next week's storm: Friday should give way to isolated showers and possible thunderstorms on Saturday. Sunday and Monday should bring mostly sunny skies with highs in the 60s and lows dipping into the upper 30s to low 40s.
