The Pearland City Council passed an ordinance Jan. 23 updating the Clear Creek Trail project with additional project details.

Clear Creek Trail’s updated scope of work details the construction of approximately 10,000 feet of 10-foot-wide concrete along the west bank of Clear Creek from Hughes Road to the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland campus.

According to the new agreement, the trail will start at a pedestrian bridge across Clear Creek that connects Harris and Brazoria counties. Additionally, it states the trail will feature “San Jacinto-themed historical points of interest” and signs.

“The purpose of this [Transportation Alternatives Program] project is to provide the engineering and construction of an off-street multiuse path to provide safer transportation to pedestrian and cyclists apart from vehicular traffic,” the agreement states.

The city will collect bids for the project in October 2024 with a construction notice to proceed expected in January 2025.
