The new Shari D. Coleman Animal Shelter and Adoption Center held a grand opening event Jan. 21 at 8311 Freedom Drive, Pearland.

The new city-run shelter and adoption center has a staff of ten professionals that aim to protect the housed animals and promote pet adoptions. The center will hold impounded animals that are stray, abandoned or quarantined and also provide microchipping.

The city’s animal services Facebook page frequently promotes missing pets to locate owners or find new homes for the animals. To view adoption and volunteer opportunities for the new center, visit the city’s animal services webpage.
