Following deliberation in executive session during the Nov. 21 Lakeway City Council meeting, officials unanimously voted to hire Joseph Molis to become the new city manager.

Molis has served as interim city manager since his predecessor Julie Oakley resigned from her position Sept. 2.

“I just want to thank the mayor, the council and the city staff for all of your support during my entire employment here at the city of Lakeway, especially during this transition,” Molis said. “It means a lot to me that you've seen my potential, and I look forward to serving our community and continuing the great things that we've been doing here.”

Council Member Louis Mastrangelo said the city had about 20 applicants apply for the position of Lakeway City Manager after the city filed a public job opening with the Texas Municipal League. Mastrangelo, along with council members Sanjeev Kumar and Kelly Brynteson, reviewed applications for the position before the candidate list was narrowed down, and council made the decision to select Molis.
