Conroe City Council voted to appoint Gary Scott as the new city administrator during a Jan. 12 council meeting.

According to a release, the council unanimously voted to appoint Scott to the role. Previously, Scott served as the assistant city attorney from 2001-2021 and also served as city attorney from 2021-present, according to the release.

"With a city this size and growing, there are a lot of moving parts. With his background in law, it's a win-win for the city. He's the only one crazy enough to take the job, and he's going to be the best city administrator in America," Mayor Jody Czajkoski said in the release.

According to previous reporting, Scott was appointed to interim city administrator Aug. 17 when city council members terminated a contract with Paul Virgadamo Jr. after 17 years as Conroe's city administrator. The release did not indicate who would be the next city attorney.

"I look forward to serving and being a servant to the citizens in this new capacity," Scott said in the release.
