The La Grange City Council is re-opening the search for a new city manager after being unable to reach a financial agreement with their chosen finalist.
Council members selected David Harris as their candidate back on December 5 to replace former City Manager Shawn Raborn, who retired at the end of September.
Harris was previously the city administrator for Balcones Heights in the San Antonio area.
The Fayette County Record reported that the city of La Grange and Harris came to an impasse over compensation.
Back in October, the Council set the salary range at between $130,000 to $175,000 annually, which includes a base salary plus benefits.
After a brief executive session meeting last week, the council chose to re-open the search.
Interim City Manager Frank Menefee said that they will start by reviewing the other three finalists.
Those three finalists are San Benito Assistant City Manager Fred Franklin Bell, former Rockport City Manager Kevin Carruth, and former Bastrop Assistant City Manager for Community Engagement Rebecca Gleason.
