Hereford City Commission could approve hire of new police chief Wednesday

HEREFORD, Texas — The Hereford City Commission could approve the hire of a new police chief tomorrow.
That is the only item on the agenda for Wednesday's special meeting.
The city has been looking for a police chief since Brent Harrison retired in January, ending a 35-year career in law enforcement.
At the time, City Manager Steve Bartels said Harrison -- who was police chief for the last 10-years -- worked with the city long enough to take early retirement.
Captain Kirsten Williams has been serving as the interim police chief.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
