A Cedar Park police officer has been arrested by the Texas Rangers on charges of sexual assault.

Keco Motton was arrested Friday for the second-degree felony crime. This follows allegations brought forward to the department just a day prior.

The Cedar Park Police Department said it quickly involved the Williamson County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.

Police Chief Mike Harmon expressed concern over the serious nature of the charges, emphasizing that such behavior runs counter to the values of law enforcement. "We take allegations of sexual assault seriously and support all victims of crime,” Harmon said in a statement announcing the arrest. “It is alarming when those allegations involve a law enforcement officer.”

Motton was dismissed from his position, the statement said. He had served with the department for 10 years.

Further details on the alleged crime were not available. We will continue to follow this developing story.
