TEMPLE — More than 100,000 gallons of sewage overflowed in Williamson Creek, caused by rain and a power outage, the city of Temple said Thursday.
The incident occurred in the area of Adams Avenue and North 50th Street.
“Williamson Creek is the affected receiving stream, and immediate measures are being taken to contain, disinfect, and remove any traces of chlorine from the discharge,” the city said. “Cleanup of the area will continue after the discharge ceases. Crews are onsite monitoring the situation and are intercepting the flow as much as possible.”
City officials notified the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality about the overflow.
