A new development called Corner on Main has been greenlighted by the Buda City Council through a specific-use permit that will bring restaurants and retail to the eastern side of the city. The
mixed-use development will be located on approximately 5.5 acres of land at the corner of Main Street and Fire Cracker Drive, east of I-35 in Buda.
"The reason we're developing, obviously, is there's darn near 3,000 houses in Sunfield right now, and there's hardly a lick of retail," Jeanes told the council at a March 7 meeting. "Retail follows rooftops."
The location does not necessarily warrant national tenants and will consist largely of local businesses. There are a couple leases already in the works, including Smoothie King, which has already been executed, and a UPS store, Jeanes added. Other prospective tenants include a nail salon, restaurants and bars, a bagel shop, and more.
The first businesses are estimated to open in late 2024.
