A San Antonio firefighter was placed on administrative leave after he was arrested in New Braunfels earlier this month and charged with drunken driving, evading arrest and drug possession.

SAFD firefighter Evan Doege, 37, was arrested June 5 in the 200 block of Chartwell Avenue.

Police were called to the area after receiving reports that Doege was damaging property. Police attempted to pull over Doege’s truck, but he left the scene, a New Braunfels spokesperson said.

Doege led police in a short pursuit before leaving his vehicle and running away on foot.

Shortly after, police said they caught Doege and found Xanax.

A representative with SAFD confirmed Doege was on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into his case. Guadalupe County records show he has been released after posting a $30,000 bail.

It’s the second time Doege has faced an evading arrest charge. Guadalupe County records show he also was arrested in 2017.
