Houston-area dealership employee takes police car to do donuts in lot

It probably goes without saying that the car porter no longer works at the dealership.

An employee of a Houston-area car dealership was recently arrested for taking a Harris County patrol car to do donuts in the parking lot earlier this week, Mack Hogan reported for Road & Track magazine.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman confirmed to Hogan that deputies had dropped the vehicle off at Parkway Chevrolet in Tomball for routine service. "We found out about it through another law enforcement agency that had received a call about this parking lot where all these people were out in vehicles doing donuts, and that supposedly one of our patrol vehicles was out there," Herman said.

Officers caught the employee, whose job included moving the cars around at the dealership. The dealer's manager, Forbes Durdin, told Hogan that the car porter could have easily gained access to the keys and—with approximately 2,000 vehicles on the lot—escaped notice. Durdin added that the porter has, unsurprisingly, since been let go.
