Municipal Campus will feature the Anna Community Library and vibrant campus plaza

Texas (July 13, 2023) – On Tuesday, Anna City Council received a report on the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) during the normally scheduled City Council meeting. The CIP report showcased key capital projects scheduled for the next fiscal year and highlighted significant progress towards completing the Municipal Campus.
 
The centerpiece of the FY23-24 CIP is the construction of the Anna Community Library and the development of a vibrant campus plaza. The library project has reached the 50% completion mark for construction documents, while the plaza design is advancing as per feedback received from the City Council. Bidding for both projects is anticipated to take place in September/October, with awards expected by the end of this year.
 
"The completion of the Anna Community Library will be a significant milestone for our city. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub of knowledge, learning, and community engagement, offering resources and programs that will enhance the lives of our neighbors for generations to come,” said Director of Neighborhood Services Marc Marchand.
 
Funding for the library project will come from the 2021 bond funds, with a not-to-exceed amount of $22,000,000. The estimated cost for the Municipal Campus Plaza is $3,500,000, with $2,000,000 contributed by the Anna Community Development Corporation. These projects are set to enhance the Municipal Campus as a downtown destination, fostering development interest in the surrounding area.
 
"The Municipal Campus Plaza will undoubtedly transform our downtown area into a vibrant and welcoming space, attracting visitors, neighbors, and businesses alike. This dynamic addition will further bolster Anna's economic growth and contribute to the overall revitalization of our city,” said Joey Grisham, Director of the Community Development Corporation.
 
Renderings of the library and plaza improvements are available online and provide a glimpse into the future of the Municipal Campus.
 
The Anna Public Library Engagement Task Force received an update on July 12 which provided details based on the progress made since the approval of the schematic design.
