The Texan star cast to increase film incentives was in part because filming incentives in other states are more appealing to production companies.

While not all the proposed bills passed, lawmakers approved a $200 million budget to increase film and TV production from $45 million previously allocated for promoting the film industry through its Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program. The program is designed to build the economy through the moving image industry and create jobs in Texas.

With the budget increase, the website explains that qualifying film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects and other moving image productions can receive a cash grant based on a percentage of a project’s eligible Texas expenditures, including wages paid to Texas residents.

The grants vary per budget level and types of production, a portion of the website stated. For additional information and to review the program's incentives, visit the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program website
