The City of Odessa announced late Sunday that city officials are taking steps to deal with a “serious data breach recently uncovered.”
“Accounts assigned to a terminated high-ranking employee have been recently accessed, and sensitive information was transferred,” the City of Odessa reported late Sunday. “An investigation has been launched.”
The City of Odessa reported that Mayor Javier Joven will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Monday at Odessa City Hall with more details. At 3 p.m., a special Odessa City Council meeting will be take place.
Included on the council agenda is the discussion of “former city attorney’s forbidden access to the City of Odessa’s email system after her termination,” according to the posted agenda. The council also will meet in executive session to “discuss a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with this chapter, with the city attorney and law enforcement.”
