The new $2.8 million splash park will take the place of the old one, which has been an aquarium staple since 2011. The park's 15,000-square-foot design, which is three times bigger than the previous one, is planned to resemble the habitats of animals that live in the Caribbean.
"Guests will recognize familiar species along the waterscape as seen in the Aquarium’s Caribbean Journey, like macaws, sharks, and snakes," the release said.
The new addition is equipped with custom water features such as a multi-level slide play structure, which has three water slides and a 350-gallon water dump. Designers wanted to appeal to a multitude of ages by adding tall slides and spray features for older kids, and interactive water features for toddlers.
Parkgoers can also look forward to 30 tables with umbrellas made for lounging along with a Dippin Dots station, snacks, drinks, and a mobile ordering food service from the aquarium's main restaurant, Pepsi Shoreline Grill. While the aquarium has yet to announce the official opening date of the H-E-B Splash Park, it will be located on the right side of the aquarium's main ramp near the ticketing booth.
To access the splash park you must purchase an aquarium admission ticket. Admission is free for children 2 and under, $29.95 for children aged 3 through 12, and $39.95 for adults. The aquarium also offers special ticket pricing for students, military, and senior citizens at $37.95 each.
