PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Many people in Pflugerville celebrated a new Health Center with a grand opening for the entire community. CommUnityCare operates 27 health centers in Central Texas and on Saturday, June 10, they expanded access to healthcare services for underserved Pflugerville residents.

The community was invited to celebrate with a grand opening, clinic tours, music, food, and family activities. The ribbon-cutting ceremony started at 10:00 a.m. with remarks from CommUnityCare and Central Health leaders, Pflugerville City Mayor Victor Gonzales, and Travis County Commissioner Jeff Travillion.

President and CEO for CommunityCare Health Center, Jaeson Fournier, said the new clinic is a direct response of the growing and changing needs in Travis County.

"Based on a community health needs assessment from several years ago, we identified that there were 4,000 plus individuals who are lower income under-insured or not insured could benefit from expanded services here in Pflugerville. As well as 7,000 individuals who had unmet dental needs who were also lower income under-insured or uninsured. So, as a response to that we've opened up a new, expanded Pflugerville Health Center," said Fournier.

The new health center includes medical care, family practices, dental services, and a pediatric residency program.

"It's going to provide much needed services to the area. Our mission is to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve which includes those that for no fault of their own have less resources," said Fournier.

Overall, the grand opening was from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
