A 10-year-old girl drowned at the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center on Monday, according to Aransas Pass police.
Around 2:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center at 400 E. Johnson Ave. for a child drowning. Lifeguards at the pool pulled the child from the water and attempted life-saving measures, witnesses told police.
Police and fire arrived at the location first. Emergency first responders took over life-saving measures and continued efforts while traveling to the nearest emergency room, a news release stated.
The girl, who was visiting the pool with her family and was not a resident of Aransas Pass, died of her injuries.
It was unclear whether the child was left unattended. Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard declined to answer the Caller-Times' questions, citing an ongoing investigation.
The child's identity was not released by officials.
