He remains Thursday morning in the Denton County jail, with bail set at $2,500, according to jail records.

A Denton County grand jury indicted him earlier this month on a charge of insurance fraud between $2,500 and $30,000, which happened May 29, 2022, court records show. Koerner was off duty when the alleged offense occurred, Dallas police said in the email.

Additional details about the charge were not immediately clear. Dallas police did not disclose additional information about the allegation in the email to officers.

Koerner has been a Dallas police officer since July 2007 and is assigned to the crimes against persons unit. He is on administrative leave while the department investigates.
