EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso Mayor, Oscar Leeser, personally bought 5,000 UTEP football tickets for city employees and employees of other agencies to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
The tickets are for the September 23 game of UTEP vs. UNLV.
Leeser bought the tickets to support the UTEP Athletics "Sell Out the Sun Bowl" campaign.
The tickets are being offered to city employees, as well as employees from El Paso Water, the El Paso Police Department, Fire Department and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
This past year, the UTEP Athletics’ “Sun Bowl Sell Out” campaign sold out for the first time in 14 years.
Looking ahead to September 23, the Miners will face UNLV, and UTEP Athletics’ goal is the same as last year, Sell Out the Sun Bowl.
UTEP is introducing the "915 Hero's Night" a tribute to the heroes in our community—military, firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, and more.
“UTEP is such an important part of this community. I have always supported UTEP Athletics, and I am thrilled to be able to support their “Sell Out the Sun Bowl” campaign while providing our hard-working city employees with an opportunity for a nice evening out with their families in the beautiful Sun Bowl stadium. Doing so during the 915 Hero’s Night is especially meaningful," said Leeser.
- Tickets will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.
- Employees may receive up to 6 tickets per individual.
- Tickets will be available for pick-up in the Mayor’s Office from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning Monday.
