EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A power management company is expanding and bringing hundreds of jobs to the borderland.

Eaton announced the expansion of its El Paso manufacturing operations which includes the purchase of a new facility, the creation of more than 600 jobs and an $80 million investment.

We are very happy that Eaton chose to grow right here in El Paso with this significant investment," said El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser. "It shows that El Paso has the talent, business climate, and potential for major industry to thrive.”

El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego said of the announcement, "It not only strengthens the economic foundation of our community but also enhances our resilience and competitiveness in the global market."

Eaton Plan Manager in El Paso Alex Mora said Eaton looked at Albuquerque, Phoenix, Dallas and El Paso but El Paso beat those cities because of how close it is to the Eaton plant in Juarez.

With its latest investment, Eaton plans to increase manufacturing of electrical grid components such as low-voltage breakers, switchboards, panelboards and assemblies.
