Isaac Turner will now serve as Leander’s interim city manager after a unanimous council decision.

What happened

At its Sept. 21 meeting, council approved a contract for Turner to serve as the interim city manager, where he will fill in as officials begin the search for a permanent replacement for current City Manager Rick Beverlin.

In August, Beverlin accepted a city manager position with Nacogdoches and provided his 60-day notice to council.

Council later accepted his resignation at its Sept. 7 meeting, and Beverlin’s last day with the city will be Nov. 1.

Zooming in

Prior to working with Leander, Turner held interim city manager positions in Hutto and Bridgeport, and he also served a five-year term as city manager for Taylor.

Currently, Turner is the president of ID Turner Solutions, which is a consulting firm that assists entities in navigating governmental services, according to the city.

Turner’s background and experiences range from goal-setting for city organizations to managing development services, capital projects and budgeting.

What’s next

Turner will start as interim city manager Oct. 16, contingent upon passing a background check and finalizing his contract with the city.

Officials will continue to work with recruiting firm Strategic Government Resources in search of a new city manager.

City manager candidate applications are anticipated to roll in starting in October, according to the city.
