The overview

The EDC works with the city and the chamber of commerce to promote economic growth, recruit new businesses and retain existing businesses. The corporation has helped many small business owners with incentives, such as Jeff Parks, owner of Mud Bugs; Noa and Travis Sutherland, owners of Zoi Market and Meridian; and Travis and Tamra Tindol, owners of Taste on Main.

The EDC also helped Valentina's Tex Mex secure incentives for its relocation from Austin to Buda.

The corporation has been working out of City Hall, located at 405 E. Loop St., for several years but underwent renovations to its space and added signage to the exterior of its office to encourage more visits from residents and the community.

"We're excited to open the doors to your brand new economic development corporation," EDC Executive Director Jennifer Storm said. "We hope you come by and see us. We hope we can help you build your business here, grow here and make Buda your home forever."

What else?

For residents and local community members, the EDC also offers free monthly co-working sessions from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the city's Welcome Center, located at 303 Main St.

There are three more sessions scheduled for the year: The sessions are also accompanied by an optional workshop at noon.

For those seeking employment, the EDC and the Buda Area Chamber of Commerce will be co-hosting a job fair Sept. 16 from 3-6 p.m. at the city's Welcome Center.

There are more than a dozen local employers scheduled to participate, seeking to fill various positions: For more information, visit the Buda EDC website.
