Southlake Carroll school officials have announced the district will sell four properties — including the location of the school administration building, citing the Legislature’s failure to increase education funding.
Properties listed for sale include 1009 N. Carroll Ave. (includes the original Carroll ISD building, built in 1919), 2400 N. Carroll Ave., (the Carroll administration location) 1301 N. Carroll Ave., (the building adjacent to Johnson Elementary) and 200 S. Peytonville Ave.
Carroll announced the property sale in a news release. It said the sale was necessary to balance the budget in future years.
Carroll officials did not return phone calls and emails from the Star-Telegram concerning questions about the budget and whether the school administration building is included in the property sale.
Its release did not say when the district anticipates a budget shortfall. But it did note that the district is looking at “opportunities to bring in revenue to meet immediate needs. These property sales are one such opportunity.”
Carroll board members approved a budget of $159,513,201 in September.
The school district will accept bids on the properties until Nov. 30.
