After a month-long investigation into accusations made against Fair Oaks Ranch Police Chief Tim Moring, the claims were found to be “unfounded or not sustained.” As of October 10, Moring is back on duty in his leadership role in the Texas Hill Country community.
Back in August, Interim City Manager Scott Huizenga announced an internal investigation into allegations made against the police chief, according to the San Antonio Express-News. An agenda item on the Fair Oaks Ranch City Council that month indicated private-room conversations were taking place among city leaders over the claims.
However, a month after digging deeper into the claims, the police chief is back on duty and public officials have nothing but kind words to say of Moring.
“I thank Lt. John Ojeda and the entire team at the police department for their outstanding perseverance and leadership during the investigation,” Huizenga wrote in a public statement. “I commend the officers and supervisors for their dedication and cooperation, and for continuing to make Fair Oaks Ranch one of the safest cities in Texas.”
City officials declined to comment further on what was uncovered or disproven during the internal investigation into the claims made against Moring. However, the claims, which were deemed unfounded by investigators, suggested illegal and unethical actions.
According to the Express-News, Moring was accused of supplying prescription drugs, namely Adderall, during a party in 2019. It was also suggested he ran a hostile work environment was accused of “slamming his hands on his desk and throwing items to the ground,” and throwing various items against the wall in the PD’s patrol room and kitchen.
The allegations came as a surprise to the community. Moring had been spoken highly of by Fair Oaks Ranch officials for his role in community engagement through a video series he produces educating the public on specific issues, such as car seat and ATV safety. He is also known for involvement annual events, such as when police dress up as Santa to ride a sleigh through town.
According to a statement released by Fair Oaks officials Tuesday, October 17, “The independent investigator submitted his report and findings in the internal affairs investigation regarding written complaints against Chief Moring. All allegations against Chief Moring were found to be unfounded or not sustained.”
