HALTOM CITY - H Mart, the largest Asian grocery store chain in the nation, is opening a location in Haltom City, the city announced Wednesday.

The store will anchor a $100 million, 50-acre mixed use development at the southeast corner of Northeast Loop 820 and North Beach Street. The development will include 50 to 60 restaurants, stores and distribution and logistics centers, according to a statement from the city. Construction could start in 2024.

“We are particularly excited and humbled that H-Mart has chosen to locate their seventh Texas store in our city,” Mayor An Truong said in a statement. “H Mart is one of the fastest growing grocery chains in America and Canada. H Mart will improve and expand our shopping experience.”

The New Jersey-based chain operates 125 stores across the U.S., including in Carrolton, Plano, Dallas, Austin, Katy and Houston.

The chain is also opening a store at 2534 Royal Lane in Dallas’ Koreatown.

The store also features kitchenware, home goods, beauty products, clothing and toys. Some include food courts.
