A call was received by BCSO for an injured man at the Woodlake Trails community on the Far Eastside around 6 a.m. on Saturday. But when deputies arrived, they found the man had a gunshot would to the head. The man, identified by Salazar as 20-year-old Martin Jaquez Martinez, had died at the scene.
Initial reports of the shooting suggested that a single gunshot may have been heard in the area around the window of 11:30 p.m. to midnight. However, Salazar said investigators acquired video footage that does not show the shooting, but does include a gunshot at roughly 6 a.m.
BCSO is requesting that witnesses or people with camera footage of anything suspicious in the area during those time frames reach out, which can be done anonymously by calling the sheriff’s office at 210-335-6000 or by emailing bcsotips@bexar.org. The same is asked for in the following cases.
Multiple hospitalized after Montgomery Road drug deal goes south
Around 8:42 p.m. on Tuesday, BCSO received a call to 6733 Montgomery Road in west Bexar County. Two men had been shot in what Salazar said was believed to be an alleged marijuana drug deal gone wrong. The men, who are both alive, are 23 and 21 years old.
The younger of the two had been shot "several times" and was still at the scene when deputies arrived. The elder flagged down a patrol sergeant and had gunshot wounds to both hands.
Salazar noted that some recent drug deals that had gone bad were for misdemeanor-level marijuana deals.

Chain sale turns into shooting behind restaurant
On Tuesday at roughly 11:13 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest, shoulder, and left arm behind a restaurant where he agreed to meet someone to sell a piece of necklace jewelry. The teen survived and has since been released.
He and a woman drove to a restaurant to meet someone they arranged the sale with on an unspecified social media platform. The unidentified male suspect asked the two to park behind the restaurant because of how crowded it was, and the teen and woman complied.
The shooter then attempted to steal the chain through the car window and shot the teen. The woman sped off before losing control and crashing her car down the road.
Safe exchange zones in San Antonio
Salazar recommended that people selling goods in person do so at BCSO or SAPD substations, some of which have designated safe exchange zones that are monitored. He noted would-be criminals would be less likely to attempt crime at such locations.
