The city of Coppell's utility billing and payment portals are getting upgrades with service interruptions expected Sept. 14-15. The upgrades will provide a more secure platform, according to a news release.
The overview
To pay a utility bill, individuals can pay in person, by check, over the phone or with a bank draft until the portal reopens. Those seeking to pay for a permit, plan review or inspection can visit the Town Center Annex at 265 Parkway Blvd.
Additionally, late payment penalties will not be assessed for September bills, the news release said.
"Although utility bills are not due during this time, we know this is an inconvenience for our customers,” said Kim Tiehen, director of the Coppell Strategic Financial Engagement Department, which includes the utility billing division. “Because of this, we will not assess penalties for late payment during the month of September.”
Quote of note
The news release said the new portal will include a more secure customer identity management system, single sign-on and multifactor authentication along with enhancing staff’s capabilities.
“Our systems are key to providing the highest level of service to our citizens,” said Jerod Anderson, director of enterprise solutions for the city of Coppell. “Keeping them up to date is essential to being able to access the latest features the software has to offer.”
