AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After little public discussion, the Amarillo City Council voted unanimously today to accept a separation agreement ending the service of City Manager Jared Miller.
Mayor Cole Stanley said there have been many closed meetings leading up to the vote and attorneys involved.
NewsChannel10 requested the separation agreement, which details the pay-out.
According to the agreement, “the City agrees to provide the Manager with a lump sum severance payment of $633,726.13.”
It also states, “In lieu of the 90-day notice period, the City will pay the Manager a lump sum of $97,134.56.”
The agreement also says the City must pay Miller any unused vacation or sick time, along with insurance reimbursements.
Mayor Stanley says citizens tax dollars will not be affected by this.
Deputy City Manager Andrew Freeman will now serve as the interim city manager.
Stanley said it could take six months or more to find a final candidate and Freeman will be considered to serve permanently.
