SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) – A Kyle Police Department officer was shot at a San Marcos apartment complex Friday night, according to Kyle Police. 

KPD said the officer lives and serves as the resident courtesy officer at the apartment complex.

The officer was investigating a gunshot there when the suspect fired their weapon, and a round struck the responding officer, CLEAT Executive Director Charley Wilkison wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The officer involved in the shooting returned fire during the incident, per Wilkison. The suspect fled but now is in custody.

The officer was treated at an Austin hospital and is in good condition, according to KPD.
