Temple Fire & Rescue will hold a special ceremony Monday, Sept. 11, to remember and honor the victims of the tragic terrorist attack on America.

The ceremony will be held at Central Fire Station, 210 N. Third St. in downtown Temple, and it will begin after shift change at about 8:30 a.m., according to Santos Soto, spokesman for the fire department.

“This is something we continue to do, and we welcome the public and other organizations to join us,” he said.

“We stand and remember that day with the citizens and first responders that watched as the events unfolded and brought us all together as one. However, having many first responders within local departments that were just children 22 years ago, our ceremony also is a way to inform them about what happened on that fateful day.”

“This is our way to pay respect and to show honor to those who lost their lives just over two decades ago,” Soto said. “We aren’t just remembering the lost firefighters, but the citizens and first responders alike.”
