When Baytown Mayor Bandon Capetillo spoke about the “three Ps” at his State of the City address in October, one he mentioned was the Patrol the Potholes program.
The program encourages Baytonians to report potholes in the city using the Better Baytown app once they see them. Whoever reports the most by Jan. 1 could win an El Toro gift card.
Since the mayor’s initiative was announced, citizens have been using the app to report potholes with a lot of success. Within the last 60 days, Baytown’s street crews have repaired 147 potholes, covering 8,665 square feet and using more than 282 tons of asphalt, according to Jason Calder, City of Baytown spokesman.
“Residents are encouraged to use the Better Baytown app to report potholes as the crackdown continues,” Calder said. “While the gift card contest ends January 1, we encourage residents to continue to report potholes as city crews continue to repair them.”
To participate in the program, simply find a pothole and report it using the Better Baytown app. The pothole should be fixed within five days. By reporting the pothole using the app, you become eligible to win the $150 gift card to use at El Toro restaurants in Baytown.
