El Paso city council and county commissioners to approve $8.57 million land sale for new data center development

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso City council and El Paso County commissioners will both have special meetings to approve the sale of property to company Wurldwide LLC in Northeast El Paso.

The sale of property will be with the interested buyer, Wulrdwide LLC.

The site of land in the Northeast would be used for a new data center.

1,083 acres of land is up for sale and is located west of U.S. Highway 54 off of Stan Roberts Sr Avenue.

The purchase price of the land is $8.57 million or $8,250 per acre of land.

Wurldwide LLC will have to spend $800 million towards the development and improvements of the property.

$400 million of that $800 million will be put towards construction and the other $400 will be towards equipment for the data center.

The data center is expected to bring 1,000 skilled trade worker jobs during peak construction.

Approximately 181 jobs will be available onsite with an estimated annual salary of $86,500.

The sale is expected to officially close by Aril 18, 2024.

The new center will likely bring $60 million in revenue towards the city of El Paso.

Over a 25 year period, each phase of the building of this data center will bring 2.8 billion capital investments.

City council will have their meeting at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning and County Commissioners will have theirs ay 9:30 a.m.
