Fort Worth Public Library Gets a New Director After Nationwide Search

Veteran library professional Midori Clark has been named director of the Fort Worth Public Library, bringing experience in strategic planning, building community partnerships, fundraising, and development to her new post.

The city said that Clark was selected after a nationwide search to replace Manya Shorr, who resigned. She begins work in Fort Worth on January 2.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Midori Clark to the city of Fort Worth,” Assistant City Manager Jesica McEachern said in a statement. “Midori is a demonstrated leader who brings to the position a wealth of experience and vast knowledge in the profession. She is passionate and enthusiastic about providing library services and access to all members of the community.”

Clark has been director of library and cultural services for the City of Aurora, the third largest city in Colorado, since 2019. She oversaw seven public libraries, a bookmobile, two arts centers, a history museum and historic sites, and cultural arts education.

In Aurora, library statistics include more than 1.3 million checkouts, nearly 500,000 visits and nearly 172,000 program attendees, the city of Fort Worth said.

Before Aurora, Clark was director of community relations, development, and strategic initiatives for the City-County Library District in Pueblo, Colorado, which has 12 locations.

Clark also has extensive experience in corporate communications and broadcast news.
